NSA REQUIREMENTS FOR PARTICIPATION
Failure of a participant to meet ALL of these requirements will result in that team not being allowed to race.
1. Clubs sending a team to a regional event, MUST notify the appropriate Event Chairperson
NO LATER THAN ONE WEEK (7days) PRIOR TO THE EVENT of their intention to
compete. A club may send no more than two competitors to a regional event. For a BYO
Optimist event, each participant will race in an Optimits* that they brought. However, this
will not be a team race. At the end of the races, the top three (3) placing individuals from
the BYO Optimist events and the first two (2) placing skippers plus the first racing crew (1)
from the double handed events will go on to the Championship event. Again, this will not
be a team race. All advancing participants should make every effort to bring an optimits of
their own or borrowed from a neighboring club as the supply of borrowed boats from BHYC
is limited. The individuals may participate in ONLY ONE NSA sponsored event. Failure
to comply may result in loss of competition privileges. It is the responsibility of the
continuing competitors to notify the Championship Event Contact of their continuation within
24 hours of the completion of the regional event.
2. Age - no participant may reach their 14th birthday before September 1.
3. Each team participant MUST be a member of the N SA yacht club or sailing
association sponsoring them. That YC or SA must be a member in good standing in the
NSA.
4. Each participant MUST bring to the regatta the following:
(a) a NSA Midget Race Entry Form, legibly completed and including all necessary
information for the participant and SIGNED BY A FLAG OFFICER OR AN ADULT
RESPONSIBLE FOR THE TEAM.
(b) a completed Medical Form for the participant attached to their Entry Form and
submitted to the Event Chairman no later than the competitors' meeting.
(c) a US Coast Guard approved life jacket with a whistle attached, which MUST be
worn.
Failure to comply with any or all of the above may result in the individual not being allowed to race.
5. Attendance at the Skippers’ Meeting is mandatory.
*The Optimist to bring must be class legal. Each participating club should bring the boast from
its own fleet for its competitors to use in either a BYO-Optimist regional or championship
event. Please make every effort to secure an Optimist.
NSA is waiving entry fees for its 2009 Midget regional and championship events.
